How to Set Up Email Verification in LeadCapture.io
Overview
LeadCapture.io’s Email Verification feature allows you to validate leads' email addresses in real time, directly within your lead form. No need for third-party tools. This helps block fake or low-quality submissions, improve email deliverability, and enhance your follow-up campaigns.
This feature is available for Pro and Plus plan users and includes a monthly allocation of free verification credits based on your lead plan.
Why Email Verification Matters
- Blocks fake, disposable, or mistyped emails from being submitted
- Improves deliverability and reduces bounce rates
- Filters out low-quality leads with little or no intent
- Supports cleaner CRM data and more effective automation
- Eliminates the need for external services
Email Verification Credits and Access
- Pro and Plus plan users receive free monthly credits equal to their plan’s lead limit
- Credits reset automatically each month
- If you exceed your limit, additional credits can be purchased at $0.01 per credit
- Access is not auto-enabled; users must request activation via support
How to Enable Email Verification
This feature must first be enabled on the account level. If the Email Verification section is not visible in your settings, contact support@leadcapture.io to request access.
Step 1: Enable Verification in Lead Delivery
- Go to your Lead Delivery settings
- Scroll to the Email Verification section
- Toggle the switch to activate
Step 2: Configure Verification Rules in Your Contact Form
- Open your form in the editor
- Select the Email field
- A new “Verification Policies” section will appear (visible only if the feature is active)
- Select which email statuses to allow through
Email Status Definitions
Each submitted email is checked and returned with a verification status. These include:
- Valid: A known, working email address
- Unknown: Could not confirm due to temporary issue or server response
- Invalid: Non-existent or incorrectly formatted address
- Disposable: Temporary or throwaway email services
- Catch-all: Domain accepts any email; status is unclear
Two Ways to Use Email Verification
Blocking Mode:
Allow only certain types of email addresses (e.g., valid and/or unknown) to pass through. Invalid and disposable emails will be blocked from submission.
Tagging Mode:
Allow all email types but tag the lead with its verification status. This is useful for post-submission filtering in CRMs or automation tools.
Real-Time User Experience
When users interact with your lead form, email verification happens behind the scenes as they enter their email address:
- As soon as a user types an email and moves to the next field (or clicks outside the input), a real-time verification check is triggered.
- A subtle message appears letting them know the email is being verified.
- If the email is valid, the form continues as normal.
If the email is invalid, disposable, or otherwise fails the check (based on your selected policies), a vague error message is displayed to prevent spam bots or bad actors from understanding why it failed.
- Every verification attempt, whether successful or not, consumes one credit. This includes multiple retries in the same form session.
Where the Verification Data Appears
In the LeadCapture Dashboard
- When viewing a submitted lead, you’ll see a field labeled Email Verification Status
For now, this will display whether email verification was used
- A future update will include the specific verification result (e.g., valid, disposable, unknown)
Webhook and Integrations
- The verification status is also included in the webhook payload
- This allows connected systems like CRMs or Zapier to receive and use the email status
- You can filter, tag, or automate based on the returned verification result in your external tools
Buying Additional Credits
If a user exceeds their monthly credit allocation:
- They can visit the "Get More Credits" section in their account
- Credits are priced at $0.01 each
- Payment and credit management are handled in-app
Best Practices
- For clean lead data and high deliverability, use the “valid only” setting
- If unsure, include “unknown” to reduce the risk of excluding legitimate leads
- Use tagging to collect more data while keeping submissions open
- Monitor usage regularly via the new credit status bar in account settings
